With the rise of distance learning, finding creative and effective ways to teach STEM subjects has become increasingly important. RadyoEskwela sa Siyensya offers a story-based, animated learning experience designed to make difficult science and math concepts easier to understand for young learners.
Free animated STEM modules for elementary students
Originally a radio learning program, RadyoEskwela sa Siyensya has evolved into an animated video series tailored for early, primary, and intermediate grades. These free science and math video lessons are now accessible via nulab’s Facebook page, making it easy for students, parents, and teachers to watch and learn.
The show features Kaikai and Bart, two animated characters who lead learners through fun adventures filled with science experiments and exciting STEM lessons.
Topics covered in RadyoEskwela episodes
Currently, there are 15 episodes covering a variety of essential topics:
Math lessons include financial literacy, ratio and rate, area and volume. The science topics span physical and life sciences (e.g., plant propagation, chemistry colors, vaccines, vitamins and minerals) and earth science and physical phenomena (e.g., density, solar eclipses, earthquakes, volcanoes).
Several episodes also integrate Filipino culture and local context, such as: Bakit Blue ang Langit? Gagambahay, and Kiwot Bees.
These culturally relevant stories help deepen student understanding and make STEM more relatable.
Making STEM education accessible andf fun
"RadyoEskwela embodies our mission to make science and math education inclusive, engaging, and accessible to all Filipino learners," said DOST-SEI Director Dr. Jayeel S. Cornelio. "By transforming radio content into animation, we provide a more immersive learning experience that sparks curiosity in STEM among young Filipinos."
Additional STEM resources for high school students
DOST-SEI also offers TuklaSiyensya, a program geared toward high school students that simplifies complex STEM concepts through animated explainers and scientist-led demonstrations. The first season includes 15 episodes and comes with post-viewing activities to reinforce learning.
