PDEA: 95 top drug suspects nabbed, P78.24M worth of dangerous drugs seized in week-long ops

Around P78.24 million worth of dangerous drugs were seized following the arrest of 95 high-value target suspects during the nationwide anti-illegal drug operation from May 16 to 23, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
Together with other law enforcement agencies, PDEA said 62 drug peddlers, six drug den owners, 20 drug den visitors, three drug den employees, three drug possessors and a lone drug user were nabbed during the 60 anti-drug operations in the country.
Of the 60 anti-drug operations, 53 were buy-busts, two were search warrant implementations, two were marijuana eradication activity, and three were interdiction enforcements.
PDEA explained that the accomplishments were the product of acquired information that arose from the agency’s previous operations.
Most of the operations were carried out in the regions of: Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Central Visayas, Caraga, Cordillera and the National Capital Region (NCR).
“A total of 10,993.01 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, popularly known as shabu; five milliliters of liquid shabu; 2.30 grams of ecstasy; 1,502 grams of marijuana kush; 134.34 grams of marijuana dried leaves and bricks; 31.85 grams of marijuana dried leaves with stalks; 8,000 grams of marijuana dried stalks; and 3,500 marijuana plants, were confiscated during the period,’’ the PDEA noted.
PDEA Director General Isagani R. Nerez commended the agency’s regional offices for consistently achieving operational successes in accordance with the directive of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. to intensify the supply reduction campaign of the government.
“Rest assured that PDEA will show up day after day, with the same energy and consistency, in eradicating the spread of illegal drugs in our society without interruption,” Nerez maintained.
