Police arrested a man on May 23 for carrying an improvised firearm and bladed weapons and tools commonly used in break-ins and burglaries in Makati City.

Upon his apprehension, the policemen recovered a pen gun loaded with live ammunition, a red eco bag containing a knife, a hacksaw blade, and an improvised ice axe, which are items commonly used in break-ins and robberies.
The suspect was charged for violating Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) in relation to Batas Pambansa Blg. 881 (Omnibus Election Code).
Southern Police District (SPD) director Brig. Gen. Joseph Arguelles commended the arresting officers and the effective leadership of Makati City Police chief Col. Jean Dela Torre.
“This accomplishment is a direct result of consistent police presence on the ground and strong community engagement. The vigilance and presence of mind demonstrated by our personnel prevented what could have escalated into a more serious incident. I commend Makati CPS for their operational readiness and their commitment to keeping our communities safe,” Arguelles said.
"The successful arrest underscores the importance of active police visibility and timely community reporting. The Southern Police District continues to encourage the public to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through official hotlines," he added.
