Korean actress Hwang Jung-eum has officially finalized her divorce from her husband, businessman and golfer Lee Young-don.
The two were married in February 2016. They have two sons.
This is the second time that the actress filed for divorce. The first one was in 2020 but it was canceled when she and her husband resolved their problems and got back together.
In February last year, Hwang Jung-eum filed for divorce anew.
Hwang Jung-eum is known for her roles in “High Kick Through the Roof,” “Kill Me, Heal Me,” “She Was Pretty,” and “Endless Love.”
Y.One Entertainment, her agency, issued a statement about the divorce.
“We would like to inform you that Hwang Jung-eum's divorce suit has been amicably concluded as of May 26, 2025, with the finalization of the family court's mediation decision. The divorce has now been officially established,” it said.
“In addition, the real estate seizure case reported on May 23 was an act of property preservation against the other party during the process of organizing the couple's joint property during the divorce suit, which is something that can normally occur during the divorce suit procedure. As the divorce suit is currently being finalized, the seizure will all be lifted. We ask for your deep understanding as we were unable to provide a detailed explanation as the matter was reported in the news right before the end of the suit.”
“We sincerely apologize for causing concern during the actress's personal divorce process, and we will do our best to conclude the remaining lawsuits related to Hwang Jung-eum's personal corporation as soon as possible,” it added.
Last May 23, Korean media reported that a steel processing and sales company run by her husband filed a lawsuit against Hwang Jung-eum for the return of a loan amounting to 157 million won ($115,000). The company requested a court for an attachment of her property, which the court accepted.
Meanwhile, Hwang Jung-eum is facing a case for embezzling 4.34 billion won (about $3 million) from her own company and using it to invest in cryptocurrency. She admitted the charges.
