Who says that the House quad-committee (quad-comm) would just wither away and die in the upcoming 20th Congress?
On the contrary, recently reelected Batangas 2nd district Rep. Gerville "Jinky Bitrics" Luistro declared in a simple but powerful Facebook post Monday, May 26 that the spirit of the vaunted four-way panel will "live on".
"The spirit of QUADCOMM lives on!!! Thank you my dearest mentors!!!" wrote Luistro, a member of the House "Young Guns" bloc.
Luistro's post came with photos of what appears to be a get together of fellow reelected Young Guns solons and senior members of the quad-comm, most of whom will not be returning to the 20th Congress.
But Lusitro--the breakout star of the quad-comm, if not the entire 19th Congress--is poised to take on bigger roles next Congress, and this includes potential chairmanship of any of the four individual committees under the quad-comm.
The quad-comm is comprised of the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs, on Public Order and Safety, on Human Rights, and on Public Accounts.
Since August 2024, the quad-comm had carried out 13 marathon hearings on the previous Duterte administration's bloody war on drugs and purportedly related issues like Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) and money laundering.
The quad-comm's public hearings became must-see television for its high drama and shocking revelations. At one point, former president Rodrigo Duterte even became a resource person in the hearing.
Surigao del Norte 2nd district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers served as overall chairman of the quad-comm in the 19th Congress.
