102-year-old grandmother gets P100,000 birthday cash gift from Taguig
The Taguig City government gifted a 102-year-old grandmother with P100,000 to mark her birthday.
Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano and Councilor Raul Aquino visited “Lola’ Urbana Nieva, born in 1923 in Barangay Pembo, to give her the check.
“Imagine reaching 102 years old at kaya mo pang kantahan ang iyong sarili ng Happy Birthday (and you can even sing yourself Happy Birthday)! Wow! What a blessing!,” Cayetano posted on Facebook along with a video of the event.
Through the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), all centenarians in Taguig get P100,000 when they reach 100 and will receive the same amount every year while they are still alive.
Senior citizens in Taguig will get a birthday cash gift from P3,000 to P10,000 depending on the age bracket.
They also receive free medicine, free nursing services at their homes and free wheelchairs, canes and hearing aids.
Senior citizens in Taguig may also go to the Center for the Elderly in Barangay North Signal Village to avail of free services, including clinic, massage room, therapy pool, theater, and recreational areas.
