TACLOBAN CITY — Gov. Sharee Ann Tan admitted that the recent load limit of the San Juanico Bridge connecting Samar and Leyte provinces affects the local economy of Samar.

Some gasoline stations in the province have closed due to lack of supplies while the prices of basic commodities have increased.
“We’re hoping that this is just temporary,” Tan said.
Tan expressed optimism that the issue will be resolved soon by the Department of Public Works and Highways, Philippine Ports Authority, and Department of Transportation.
Following the recent declaration of a state of emergency by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the provincial government is also seeking infrastructure support from the national government to fast-track the transport of goods.
The governor said they will turn over the Amandayehan Port in Basey town owned by the LGU to PPA.
DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon on Sunday inspected the Tacloban and Amandayehan Ports.
The DPWH contractor vowed to finish improvements in the port in two weeks to enable boats transporting trucks and cargoes from Samar to Tacloban City to use the facility.
