Seventeen marks rebirth with 'Burst Stage' performance in Seoul
K-pop idol group Seventeen held their “B-day Party: Burst Stage @Jamsu Bridge” performance on May 25, a high-energy celebration signaling their rebirth.
The three-day extravaganza marking Seventeen’s 10th anniversary celebration started on May 23 at Banpo Hangang Park in Seoul and concluded with “Burst Stage.”
The event saw the gathering of Carats (fandom name), locals and tourists alike. Over 6,000 seats installed atop Jamsu Bridge were filled with fans enjoying the festive atmosphere, while three massive LED screens throughout the park drew large crowds eager to share the excitement.
Seventeen took the stage amid a neon-colored foundation show, previewing the surprise live debut of “Thunder,” the main track of their upcoming fifth studio album “Happy Burstday.”
Their performance, coupled with a spectacular display of fireworks and laser lights, ignited the atmosphere.
Driven by an intense EDM-infused dance-pop sound, the song energized the crowd, with its powerful hook leaving a lasting impression.
Seventeen also performed “HBD,” another track from the new album. In front of microphone stands, the K-pop idols exuded fierce charisma and a rockstar aura.
Backed by a driving band sound and unfiltered vocals, the performance declared Seventeen’s historic rebirth.
Throughout the one-hour set, Seventeen powered through 12 songs that included fan favorites like the fiery “Hot,” the sentimental “April shower” and “Headliner,” and the uplifting “Rock with you” and “Together”, showcasing their unmatched stage prowess.
The Hangang River served as the perfect backdrop for a series of production elements. During the performance of “Our Dawn Is Hotter Than Day,” the iconic Banpo Bridge Moonlight Rainbow Fountain lit up in Seventeen’s official colors—rose quartz and serenity.
In addition, multi-colored lights danced in sync with the beat during “God of Music.” The encore performance of “Very Nice,” set against a stunning display of fireworks over the water and rainbow fountains, created a festive spectacle that drew awe and applause from the audience.
With this, Seventeen made history as the first K-pop act to successfully stage a large-scale performance on Jamsu Bridge.
Seats allocated through a high-demand lottery for official fan club members were quickly claimed, and general admission tickets also sold out within minutes, underscoring Seventeen’s overwhelming popularity.
The performance was also live-streamed globally via HYBE Labels’ official YouTube channel and Weverse, drawing real-time engagement from fans around the world.
Before the “Burst Stage,” the “B-day Party” pop-up held around Some Sevit (Sevit Island) consistently drew high attendance throughout its run.
Key attractions such as “SVT's History,” “Puzzle SVT,” “Photism” and the “5th Full Album Merch Zone” all sold out shortly after reservations opened.
Not only fans but also everyday visitors and tourists flocked to the area to take photos with the giant floating sculpture of the 10th anniversary Carat Bong (official Seventeen light stick) and enjoyed music video screenings of Seventeen’s greatest hits on outdoor LED displays.
Seventeen will be releasing their fifth studio album “Happy Burstday” at 6 p.m. KST (5 a.m. EDT / 2 a.m. PDT) on May 26.
The title, “Happy Burstday,” is a combination of the words “birthday” and “burst” to express the explosive energy of Seventeen’s rebirth, capturing their desire to reinvent themselves as a “new Seventeen” and embrace a fearless new era beyond a decade.
For the first time since their debut, the album features solo tracks from all 13 members and collaborations with a diverse array of artists, including Pharrell Williams and Timbaland, bringing bold new sonic experimentation to the project.
