ILOILO CITY – The son and nephew of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada were mauled by residents of world-famous Boracay Island in Malay town, Aklan province.
Sen. Estrada confirmed that his son, Julian Ejercito, and nephew Jefferelly Vitug, were assaulted on Saturday, May 24.
The senator went to Boracay and talked to authorities.
Radyo Todo Aklan reported that the incident occurred around 2 a.m. in Barangay Balabag.
Julian and Jefferly reportedly left a bar and were walking toward the direction of a mini-mall adjacent to the front beach when they were stopped by three men.
Without any provocation, the suspects allegedly attacked Julian and Jefferly. They sustained head and face injuries.
Julian posted the incident on his Instagram story.
“To everyone expecting to see me at Epic tonight, I won’t be able to make it,” Julian wrote on Saturday.
Epic is a famous bar in Station 2.
“Got caught in a really unfortunate situation last night and need time to recover, both physically and mentally appreciate all your understanding and support. See you soon.” Julian added.
The Malay Municipal Police Station could not give specific details on the incident, citing privacy issues.
Police Lt. Col. Mar Joseph Ravelo, Malay police chief, confirmed that charges of physical injuries have been filed against the suspects.
“We filed against three suspects and not two suspects,” Ravelo told Manila Bulletin in a phone interview on Sunday, May 25.
