Police arrested a mother after she injured her son with a knife during a dispute over a Wi-Fi password in Muntinlupa.
The Muntinlupa police belatedly reported on May 24 that the incident happened in Barangay Putatan on April 18 during Holy Week.
According to the police investigation, the son and his sister Ineng woke up at about 4 a.m. to prepare for Visita Iglesia (church visit).
Their mother demanded that Ineng give her the Wi-Fi password, which had been changed by her son to prevent the suspect from frequently using a gambling app.
When Ineng refused, the mother became enraged and allegedly threatened to kill her. The son intervened, but the mother threw a knife, striking his right arm.
The incident was reported personnel of Brangay Putatan's Violence Against Women and Their Children, who then sought assistance from Muntinlupa police's Putatan Substation.
The mother was arrested for physical abuse under Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act).
