AJ Lim asserted his dominance by capturing twin titles in the recent 2025 Balangay Open in Butuan City.
The top-seeded Lim ruled the men’s singles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Jade Olivarez and then teamed up with Bryan Saarenas to clinch the men’s doubles crown at the expense of Johnny Arcilla and Ronard Joven, 6-4, 6-3.
“Balangay Open men’s singles title defended and bagged the doubles title! Would like to thank my team here for all the support. It would be impossible to win it all without you guys,” Lim wrote on social media.
The victory is expected to be Lim’s training ground for future international stints in Asia, including tournaments in China and Thailand, as part of his preparation for the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Thailand in December.
Cebuana Lhuillier CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier, who has been supporting Lim’s endeavors, lauded his recent feat.
“AJ has shown time and again that true champions are defined not just by talent, but by heart and resilience. We are incredibly proud to have him as part of the Cebuana Lhuillier family,” Lhuillier said.
“As a staunch supporter of grassroots sports development, Cebuana Lhuillier remains committed to nurturing homegrown talents like AJ and providing them with platforms to shine locally and internationally,” he added.
