BACOLOD CITY – Three residents of Negros Occidental topped the March 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers.

Maria Carmel Delada of the Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) in Talisay City, Negros Occidental and Jacob Facultad of the Philippine Normal University-Visayas in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental ranked fourth in the exam with a 93.20 percent rating.

Roxanne Ricaplaza, also of PNU-Visayas, placed seventh with a 92.60 percent rating.
Delada, a resident of E.B. Magalona town, is a cum laude Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) Major in Science graduate.
The 23-year-old graduated in June 2024 and started reviewing for the board exam in October.
She dedicated her achievement to her family and supporters.
“I felt overwhelmed, very happy, and blessed,” she said. “I was shocked. I did not expect to be included in the Top 10 because the exam, especially the major subjects, were really difficult, to the point that we felt depressed after taking it,” she added.
Delada is the second among four siblings. Her mother, Maria Carmen, is an elementary teacher, and her father Wilfredo is an electrician auto mechanic. Delada graduated with honors in elementary and senior high school, and salutatorian in junior high school.
The CHMSU-Talisay Campus placed seventh among top performing schools in LEPT on the secondary level with a 91.74 percent overall passing rate.
Two-hundred among 218 examinees from CHMSU-Talisay passed the LEPT.
“This is truly an honor for CHMSU to continue excelling in LEPT and producing quality graduates of our pre-service teacher education programs,” CHMSU College of Education Dean Ophelia Duayan said in a statement.
PNU-Visayas recognized Facultad and Ricaplaza – both graduates of Bachelor in Social Science Education – for their outstanding achievement.
PNU-Visayas also emerged as a top performing school in the LEPT with a 100 percent passing rate in both secondary and elementary first-time examinees.
