Days after his emotional farewell to Far Eastern University, Pre has found his new home in Diliman and will serve a one-year residency before suiting up in the UAAP Season 89.
It comes as a big development for the State U after the departure of Francis Lopez, who is now in Japan for B.League team Nagoya, and Aldous Torculas, who has transferred to the San Beda Red Lions in the NCAA.
"We know naman yung kayang gawin ni Veejay. Magiging malaking tulong siya sa atin with his all-around game," said UP head coach Goldwin Monteverde.
"What's fortunate about all this is that hindi naman tayo nandun when reports and rumors began. We respected FEU, and kinausap lang natin si Veejay nung nakapag-decide at nakapagpaalam na siya sa FEU," Office of Athletics and Sports Development Director Bo Perasol added.
Last Tuesday, Pre revealed his final decision of leaving the Sean Chambers-mentored crew which he had consulted with his loved ones for months.
The Floridablanca, Pampanga native is a lethal freshman for the Tamaraws with averages of 13.2 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists to steer FEU to a 5-9 slate and win the Rookie of the Year plum.
