Makati police foil robbery attempt on broadcaster; one suspect arrested

A motorcycle-riding man was arrested after he and his cohort attempted to rob a 44-year-old broadcaster of his mobile phone in Barangay San Isidro, Makati City, Thursday evening, May 22.
The suspect was identified as Justin, 23, a resident of Signal Village, Taguig City.
Based on the police report, the victim was walking along Finlandia Street when he was approached by two motorcycle-riding men. Justin, the back rider, dismounted and held the victim at gunpoint, demanding his iPhone 11.
Sub-Station 3 police officers on routine patrol saw the robbery unfolding and immediately responded.
Justin and his cohort, Brian, the motorcycle driver, tried to escape, but the latter lost control of the bike, causing Justin to fall off. This led to his arrest.
Police recovered from Justin a .38-caliber revolver with live ammunition, the stolen phone, and multiple plate numbers.
Justin is facing charges for violation of Article 293 of the Revised Penal Code (Robbery), R.A. 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition), and Violation of the Omnibus Election Code.
A manhunt has been launched for Brian, who escaped.
"The confiscated firearm will be submitted to the SPD Forensic Group for ballistic examination, and the recovered motorcycle plates will undergo verification with the Land Transportation Office (LTO). A background check is also being conducted with the Firearms and Explosives Office to determine legal ownership of the seized weapon," the Makati City Police said.

These initiatives are part of sustained operations to ensure the safety and security of all residents. The pursuit of the second suspect continues, with CCTV backtracking and forward-tracking being employed to assist in his apprehension," they added.
