BACOLOD CITY – A 37-year-old Indian involved in the tragic accident in Barangay Alangilan here on Good Friday last month has posted a second bail of P500,000, following the issuance of an arrest warrant on May 16.

According to Police Major Joeil Reclamado, head of Police Station 5, Jarpreet Singh appeared at the police station on Wednesday, May 21 to process bail related to charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, multiple physical injuries, and property damage.
Singh posted P60,000 bail on April 22, a day after charges were initially filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
Three people were killed in the April 18 incident. Seventeen others were injured, including two police officers, when Singh’s multi-purpose vehicle rammed into a crowd during a religious procession.
“The first bail was for the inquest proceedings,” Reclamado said.
Trial is ongoing amid Singh’s temporary release.
Reclamado also said that a separate complaint for violating the anti-drunk driving law has been filed, pending a resolution from the prosecutor’s office.
Singh tested positive for alcohol following the crash but said he consumed alcohol as a painkiller.
He was with four fellow Indian nationals returning from a resort at the time of the incident.
Wanted person nabbed
BACOLOD CITY – A 27-year-old laborer wanted for murder was arrested in Barangay General Luna, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, May 21.
The suspect Dodong, a resident of Escalante City, Negros Occidental, was considered a high-profile fugitive by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.
The suspect was the eighth most wanted person in the Negros Island Region (NIR), Police Lt. Col. Alvimar Flores, Sagay City police chief, said.
Dodong was also the fourth most wanted on the provincial level and second on the city level.
The San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Regional Trial Court Branch 57 issued his warrant of arrest dated Feb. 8, 2023. No bail was recommended for his temporary release.
