DAVAO CITY – Davao City first district Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte was formally sworn into office on Friday, May 23, for his third and final term in the House of Representatives.

The private ceremony at The Royal Mandaya Hotel was attended by family – second district Rep. Vincent Omar Duterte, Pwersa ng Pilipinong Pandagat (PPP) party-list Rep. Harold Duterte, and city Councilor Rodrigo "Rigo" Duterte II – close friends, and longtime supporters.
In his address, Rep. Duterte thanked the people of Davao for their sustained trust and support, not only for him but also for his entire family, particularly his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
He called his father his “greatest mentor and inspiration in public service.”
Rep. Duterte also acknowledged the political and personal challenges their family has faced, especially during and after the Duterte presidency.
“Our only way of giving back for your support is through our sincere service. Thank you very much,” Rep. Duterte said in the local dialect, vowing to continue serving with honesty and dedication.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his legislative priorities for the people here, focusing on education, healthcare, and livelihood programs, particularly for underserved communities.
He pledged to “finish strong” and build a legacy based on values instilled by his father. “I carry not just my name but a duty to prove that leadership is earned every day through genuine service,” he said.

He was joined by his five children, his wife January Duterte, his mother Elizabeth Zimmerman, and a life-size standee of former President Duterte.
The Davao City Board of Canvassers officially proclaimed Paolo, Rigo, and Omar as winners on May 13, along with Mayor-elect Duterte, Vice Mayor-elect Sebastian, and other Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod candidates.
