Duterte Youth Party-list Chairman Ronald Cardema has blamed Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia for triggering President Marcos to demand the resignation of all his Cabinet secretaries.
Comelec chief Garcia to blame for Marcos' Cabinet revamp, says Cardema
"Ikaw ang huling namulitika bago nagalit ang Presidente ng Pilipinas (You were the one who did politicking before the President got angry)," Cardema said Friday, May 23, referring to Garcia.
Cardema was visibly fuming during the Pandesal Forum at Kamuning Bakery and called out yet again Comelec's decision to suspend the party-list's proclamation as winner during the 2025 mid-term elections.
Cardema claimed Garcia was "politicking", instead of focusing on the problems that the poll body had.
"Ano ang sinabi ng Pangulong Bongbong Marcos? Ayaw na ng tao ng politicking, gusto ng action (What was the President saying? That the people do not want politicking, that they want action)," he said.
Cardema then reiterated his call on Garcia to join the Cabinet secretaries in submitting a courtesy resignation because he was supposedly included in the list of people expected to resign.
Comelec earlier said that Garcia was not among the Cabinet secretaries ordered to resign, because he was the head of Comelec--a constitutional body and not under the executive branch.
But Cardema said Garcia should resign just like what Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chairperson Marilyn Yap did.
Yap, in a later statement, denied that she submitted a resignation.
"Bakit di mo samahan? Bakit di ka manindigan sa wisdom ng nag appoint sayo (Why didn't you join her in resigning? Why don't you defer to the wisdom of the one who appointed you)," Cardema said.
