Birthday in jail: 4 friends nabbed in Rodriguez, Rizal drug den

A man celebrating his birthday and his three friends were nabbed in a drug den during a buy-bust operation launched by the Rodriguez, Rizal Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), authorities said on Thursday, May 22.

Police said the operation was conducted on May 20 in Barangay San Rafael at the house of one of the suspects, who is using it as a drug den.

An undercover police officer was able to purchase shabu from the suspects, prompting the rest of the officers to launch the operation.

During the commotion, the house owner, identified as alias "James," managed to escape by jumping over the wall of his house.

Luckily, one of the arrested men turned out to be the primary source of the group's illegal drugs.

Police recovered 100 grams of shabu worth P700,000 from the suspects.

In an interview, the suspects admitted that they are using drugs but denied allegations that they are drug pushers.

They are facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, a manhunt operation was launched for James's arrest.
