Authorities said on Thursday, May 22, that they arrested two armed men who robbed a coffee shop in Caloocan City and confiscated a submachine gun from one of them.

The arrested suspects were identified as “Topher,” 47, and “Balueg,” 50. They were apprehended during a follow-up operation conducted by the Tuna Police Sub-Station 1.

Based on the investigation, the suspects forcibly entered a coffee shop along A. Mabini Street in Barangay 30, Maypajo, and declared a holdup on Monday night, May 19.

At gunpoint, they took an iPad, a Xiaomi Pad, and P2,500 in cash from the victims before fleeing the scene.

The incident was immediately reported, prompting the Caloocan City Police Station, under the supervision of Col. Paul Jady Doles, to launch a follow-up operation that led to the suspects' arrest.



During the arrest, authorities recovered a KG9 submachine gun loaded with six live rounds from Topher’s possession, hidden inside a red bag.



The suspects are now in the custody of Tuna Sub-Station 1 and will face charges for violating Article 294 of the Revised Penal Code (Robbery). In addition, Topher will be charged with violating Republic Act 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition) in relation to Batas Pambansa Blg. 881 (Omnibus Election Code).
