PNP: More cops deployed to feel police presence on the ground

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed around 70,000 policemen so far to boost police visibility as more people are expected to troop to tourist destinations and other places of convergence due to school break.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said the move is part of the efforts to ensure community safety through the intensified deployment of personnel nationwide to enhance visibility and accessibility in public spaces.

“Crime prevention begins with presence. We want every Filipino to feel the assurance that help is always within reach — that there is always a police officer nearby, ready to respond, ready to serve,” said Marbil. 

“These efforts form part of the PNP’s broader strategy to bring police services closer to the people and to foster a culture of responsiveness, professionalism, and trust across all communities,” he added.

Marbil said police presence must be done through foot and mobile patrols, particularly in high-density areas, public transport hubs, commercial zones, and tourist destinations.

As of May 21, he said a total of 69,657 police personnel have been deployed to man Police Assistance Desks, Tourist Assistance Centers, and provide direct support to the public in various convergence points. 

These deployments, Marbil said, ensure that police officers are where they are most needed—on the streets and within communities.

To further extend its reach and effectiveness, Marbil said the PNP has also activated force multipliers, including members of accredited civic volunteer organizations (CVOs), barangay security officers, and other community support groups. 

He said they will work alongside police personnel to boost visibility, assist in patrolling efforts, and serve as vital links between the police and the communities they serve.
