President Marcos' extension of an olive branch to his vocal critics--the Dutertes--shows the Chief Executive's good manners and level-headedness.
Thus, said San Juan City lone district Rep. Ysabel Maria "Bel" Zamora, one of the House prosecutors in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
"You know that this, for the President to say that, it's just him being polite and proper and level headed. I know the President to be a man of good words, so I won't hear vengeful words from him and I think that's just him being his proper self," the newly-reelected solon told reporters.
Vice President Duterte is the eldest daughter of ex-president Rodrigo Duterte. The two are arguably Marcos' most influential and vocal critics, and enjoy high popularity like the President.
For what it's worth, Marcos now wants to reconcile with them.
But Zamora is of the opinion that Malacañang call doesn't mean it is turning its back on accountability when it comes to the younger Duterte's impeachment case.
As such, she says the 11-member prosecution team from the House of Representatives will carry out its preparations for the Senate impeachment trial.
"Now, I believe that he will hear or listen to those who will. If there are charges filed against the Vice President, such as the impeachment case, I believe that he's open to having that, having the impeachment proceedings go through," Zamora said.
The prosecution panel is set to meet this week in an event that could include substitute members Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima and Akbayan Party-list Rep. Chel Diokno.
