The Manila Police District (MPD) said they are awaiting the results of the autopsy before deciding on the filing of charges in the case of a 10-year-old boy who died after undergoing circumcision at a clinic in Tondo, Manila.
A registered midwife, who falsely posed as a licensed doctor, performed the procedure.
In an exclusive statement to Manila Bulletin, MPD Public Information Office Head Maj. Philipp Ines said that authorities are conducting an in-depth investigation into the matter.
Officials clarified that the case will be evaluated based on the findings of the pathological report.
However, they assured that charges will be filed against the woman for posing as a licensed medical professional, regardless of the report's outcome.
“Wala pa tayong nakikitang malinaw na aspect ng krimen dahil wala pang lumalabas na resulta. Mahirap naman mag-jump into conclusions ng walang hawak na ebidensya (As of now, the investigation continues, and authorities are focused on gathering all the necessary evidence before making formal charges)," Ines told Manila Bulletin.
He added that the charges related to the fatality will depend on the pathological report.
Investigators also discovered that the clinic was not properly accredited.
As the investigation continues, authorities remain focused on gathering all the necessary evidence before proceeding with formal charges.
