The Land Transportation Office-Region 6 (Western Visayas) penalized vlogger Jimmy Lagunday Catarata by implementing a lifetime driving ban and non-issuance of driver’s license following a viral video that showed him mimicking the flying superhero onboard his motorcycle while wearing an underwear and a crop top.
“The argument that such acts were done for content purposes – that he made sure that there no other people and motor vehicles; that it was not done in a national road – are not valid defenses that would negate the fact that such acts constitute reckless driving,” the LTO-6 said in a resolution.
Another factor in the decision of LTO-6 was the vlogger from Ibajay town never even had a valid driver’s license when the content video was created.
The decision signed by LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan II and LTO-6 Legal Officer Atty. Tanya Lynne Diestro also placed the vlogger under “alarm status.”
