- Budget Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman has approved the creation of 10,000 non-teaching positions to strengthen the education workforce and support the growing operational needs of public schools across the country.
Pangandaman confirmed in a statement released Thursday, May 22, that the agency has already “approved a total of 10,000 non-teaching positions to provide our teachers with necessary support.”
According to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), this decision was in line with the President’s directive to continue strengthening the country’s education sector.
Pangandaman clarified that the newly approved positions are in addition to the 16,000 new teaching posts recently approved for the upcoming school year (SY) 2025 to 2026.
Specifically, the latest approved positions are for administrative officer 2 posts, with salary grade (SG) 11. These will be assigned to elementary, junior high, and senior high schools across all regions in the country.
The Budget chief said the President has committed to support teachers by easing their workload so they can concentrate on providing quality education.
“That’s why we are increasing the number of non-teaching personnel—to lessen their administrative burden, which will greatly help improve their mental health and overall well-being,” Pangandaman said.
“When we announced these new positions, we also spoke with the Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd), Secretary Sonny Angara. Our request was to ensure that the newly opened teaching and non-teaching positions are filled, especially with the start of classes fast approaching. There are a lot of positions, so we understand that it won’t be easy,” she said.
The DBM’s regional offices shall directly issue the notice of organization, staffing, and compensation action (NOSCA) to the DepEd’s schools division offices, based on DepEd’s submitted deployment report.
