Couple, 2 kids die in Bulacan fire; 15-year-old boy survives
A teacher, her husband and their two children died after a fire engulfed their home in Malolos City, Bulacan, early Wednesday morning, May 21.

Authorities identified the victims as teacher Maricel Santos Clauag, 49; her husband Phillip Caluag, 49; and their children, Felice, 18, and Julien Lucius, 10.
The couple’s 15-year-old son, Yan, survived but sustained injuries. He is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
According to Malolos Fire Station chief investigator SF01 Erwin Parungao, the fire erupted around 4 a.m. inside the family’s residence in Alido Heights, Barangay Bulihan.
Firefighters put out the blaze at 4:18 a.m.
Maricel Caluag, a teacher at Molina Montessori and Bulihan Elementary School, was remembered by colleagues and students as a passionate and caring educator who inspired many.
They said that her kindness, patience, and unwavering belief in the potential of every learner made her truly unforgettable.
They said though she's no longer with them, her legacy of love, encouragement, and inspiration will live on in the classrooms she helped shape.
“We will forever cherish the moments we shared and the lessons she so gracefully imparted. Your light continues to shine in the lives you've touched," teachers and students from Molina Montessori and Bulihan Elementary School said.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire as the community mourns the victims’ deaths.
