- CIDG operatives seized 26,000 pieces of assorted "Eutral" brand vape products during the operation in Marilao town
Police seized around P9 million worth of vape products following the arrest of a Chinese businessman during a raid in Marilao, Bulacan, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said on Thursday, May 22.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said the arrested foreigner was caught selling vape products without the necessary permits and authority from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) during the operation in Barangay Prenza 1 in Marilao town.
Torre said his men seized 26,000 pieces of assorted “Eutral” brand vape products amounting to P9.1 million.
The government regulates the importation, manufacture, sale, distribution, and use of vaporized nicotine and non-nicotine products, their devices, and vape products to promote a healthy environment.
Earlier, the Department of Health sought assistance from the PNP to strictly implement the prohibition on sale and distribution of vape products due to alarming cases of increasing numbers of minors having lung problems for vaping.
“With this confiscation in huge quantities, we significantly protect the citizens from any potential health hazards that may occur from these unregistered vape products; and we have arrested the alleged seller of these illicit items,” said Torre.
He said the suspect faces violation of Section 19 Republic Act No. 11900 (Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation) for failure to register the products with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BİR).
