Barili Mayor Pablo John Garcia IV surprised Hospicia “Nanay Pesing” Carvajal Alipin, one of the town’s oldest residents, with a heartfelt birthday celebration.
The celebrant first met Garcia during the campaign period. The mayor was deeply moved upon learning that one of his constituents had already surpassed a century in age.
During their meeting, Garcia made a promise to host a birthday party for Nanay Pesing – a promise that the mayor fulfilled to her great joy and surprise.
A simple yet meaningful celebration was held at the Bolocboloc Gym. It was attended by Nanay Pesing’s family, close friends, barangay officials, and Garcia.
“Isip amahan sa lungsod, proud kaayo ko nga naa koy anak nga 107 ang edad (As the father of the town, I am proud that one of my children is already 107-years-old),” Garcia said, expressing his pride and affection for the town’s centenarian.
Nanay Pesing thanked the mayor for remembering his promise.
She is the widow of the late Casiano Alipin, former barangay captain of Bolocboloc, and is survived by her children Alberto, Mercydarios, and Evangeline, along with several grandchildren.
