PCO Undersecretary Claire Castro (RTVM)
Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro clarified on Wednesday, May 21, that former OWWA administrator Arnel Ignacio was sacked, and was not asked to resign.
In fact, another official— deputy director Emma Sinclair—was also fired from her post, Castro said.
The Palace official said they were fired due to an alleged anomalous P1.4-billion land acquisition deal.
We have said that former OWWA administrator Arnel Ignacio did not resign, he was sacked due to the anomaly mentioned by Secretary Hans Cacdac)," Castro said in a Palace briefing on Wednesday.
Pareho po silang tinanggal, hindi po sila pinag-resign (And aside from that, another official will be included, deputy director Emma Sinclair. They were both fired, they were not asked to resign)," she added.
Castro said that according to President Marcos, their ouster from office must serve as a warning to all government officials to be honest in performing their duties.
She said the President will not hesitate to fire them if they engage in fraud while holding a government post.
This is a sign, we can say that it is a call from the President to everyone working under him to do your jobs properly, to remove deception or dishonesty in your work, because the President will not hesitate to remove you from your position)," Castro said.
"You will all be fired, kapag hindi ninyo tinupad ang inyong mga obligasyon sa bayan (You will all be fired if you do not fulfill your obligations to the nation)," she warned.
