Police arrested a 23-year-old man who is accused of stealing a motorcycle in Taguig on May 21.
The police identified the suspect as alias Alfie who was arrested in Barangay San Miguel, Taguig. His alleged accomplice identified as alias Roel, 24, remained at large.
The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. when alias Francis, a 19-year-old driver, parked his motorcycle near Serenity Park Cemetery.
Based on initial investigation, the two suspects used a false key to start the engine and flee with the vehicle.
The incident was witnessed by alias Simon, 22, a brother of the victim, who immediately initiated a pursuit and alerted authorities.
Personnel from the District Mobile Force Battalion of the Southern Police District, who were conducting visibility patrol in the area, responded.
A hot pursuit operation was launched, leading to the arrest of Alfie and the recovery of the stolen motorcycle with sidecar.
The suspect is in police custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Law of the Philippines).
The case has been turned over to the Investigation and Detective Management Section for further legal proceedings.
