DSWD adjusts start of 4Ps educational compliance monitoring, grant payments to June

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Wednesday, May 21 announced that the monitoring of education compliance and the disbursement of corresponding cash grants under its Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) will begin in June, in time for the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

DSWD Director Gemma Gabuya of the 4Ps National Program Management Office (NPMO) explained that the adjustment was made in response to the Department of Education’s (DepEd) revised school calendar for School Year 2025–2026. 

The move is also in line with the 4Ps Act of 2019, which stipulates that education grants should not exceed 10 months per monitored child each year.

“This change ensures that education grants are disbursed only during months when children are actually attending school, thereby maximizing the support provided to beneficiary households,” Gabuya said.

The upcoming compliance period will cover Pay Period 3, which runs from June to July.

Under the 4Ps program, beneficiaries receive P300 per month for elementary students, P500 for junior high school students, and P700 for senior high school students who maintain the required 85 percent class attendance rate.

To qualify for the education grants, beneficiaries must ensure that children aged three to 18 are enrolled in school and meet the 85 percent attendance requirement.

The 4Ps NPMO also clarified that for Pay Period 2 2025, which covers April to May, during the student vacation period, beneficiaries will receive only health grants, rice subsidies, and the First 1000 Days cash grants for households with pregnant members or children aged zero to two.

Launched in 2008 and institutionalized through Republic Act 11310 in 2019, the 4Ps is the government’s national poverty reduction strategy and human capital investment program that provides conditional cash transfers to eligible poor households for up to seven years to improve their children’s health, nutrition, and education outcomes.

Each household-beneficiary currently receives a monthly health and nutrition grant of P750, along with a monthly rice subsidy of P600. 

Female 4Ps beneficiaries who are pregnant, as well as households with children aged two and below, are also entitled to an additional P350 monthly health grant.
