The fatalities were identified as Marilie, 26, a housemaid, and her common-law husband, Fernan, 30, a laborer.
Police Lt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr., Kabankalan police chief, said the couple were talking about her plan to repair their house.
The woman suggested to her live-in partner that she would continue working in this city to enable them to repair the house.
However, Fernan refused to allow her to continue working here, resulting to an altercation and violence.
The incident was witnessed by her six-year-old daughter from her first partner.
The child asked for help from her grandmother, who was living nearby.
The couple sustained multiple stab wounds and was declared dead in a hospital.
Police discovered other bladed weapons in the scene but suspect that a sickle was used in the incident.
Indiape said that it was the first time that the couple became violent in their arguments.
Marilie’s daughter is now under the care of her grandmother.
