“The downtrend in the Western Visayas inflation rate in April was mainly due to the slower annual growth in the index of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which was noted at 0.8 percent during the month from 2.7 percent in March 2025,” noted Nida Amolar, Philippine Statistics Authority-6 officer-in-charge and chief statistical specialist.
Another contributing factor was the drop in the index price of transportation to -2.1 percent in April from -1.1 percent in March.
Inflation for housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, also went down.
Iloilo province and Iloilo City recorded the highest inflation rate at 3.2 percent in April.
The province of Antique had the lowest inflation rate last month at -1.6 percent.
The inflation rate was 2.2 percent in Bacolod City; 2.1 percent in Negros Occidental province; 1.7 percent in Capiz province; 0.5 percent in Guimaras province; and -1.2 percent in Aklan province.
