- Toyota is reigniting the excitement of street racing as it brings Race Weekend 2 of the 2025 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup (TGR Philippine Cup) to Villar City on May 24 and 25. This marks the first street race of the series since 2018.
The weekend event will feature a full schedule of racing and motorsport activities. Saturday kicks off with qualifying rounds followed by the first sprint race, while Sunday will feature the second and third sprint races. Drag races and exhibition events by car clubs and gymkhana drivers will take place across both days.
Admission is free to the public, with registration available at www.tgrphcup.com. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be livestreamed on TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippines' Facebook and YouTube channels.
Street races have long been part of the TGR Philippine Cup’s legacy, previously held in locations such as Alabang, Cebu City, McKinley Hill in Taguig, and Pasay City. This year, Villar City plays host for the first time. Its mix of tight corners and long straights promises high-speed action and intense wheel-to-wheel racing, much to the anticipation of both drivers and spectators.
Beyond the racing, attendees can enjoy various attractions such as vehicle displays, test drives, sim racing rigs, food and beverage booths, and merchandise from Toyota's GR brand. Music performances will cap off each race day, with Rico Blanco and Parokya ni Edgar performing on May 24, and Ely Buendia and Bamboo headlining May 25.
TMP has also teased exclusive race weekend promos on select Toyota vehicles, providing added incentive for fans and car buyers alike.
"We have heard how much the racers and fans wanted to bring back the street race after the successful ones we’ve had in Metro Manila and Metro Cebu. With the races closer to the Metro, we hope more people will come to experience the thrill and joy of motorsports for themselves and perhaps even discover a passion for speed and all things racing," said TMP Assistant Vice President for Marketing Services Andy Ty.
Street circuits offer a unique challenge to drivers and a visceral thrill for spectators. The proximity of barriers, the unpredictability of the layout, and the energy of a city-based crowd all combine to make these races special. For fans of motorsport and street culture alike, Race Weekend 2 is not to be missed.
