Laborer arrested for attempting to burn church in Quezon

MAUBAN, Quezon – A 40-year-old construction worker was arrested for allegedly attempting to burn an Iglesia ni Cristo church in Barangay Soledad, this town, on Monday morning, May 19.
Police said the suspect Arjay was armed with three Molotov cocktail bombs and entered the church of the prominent independent nontrinitarian Christian organization.
Members of the church tried to restrain him but he did not listen.
He destroyed the window and threw the incendiary weapon, triggering a fire quickly extinguished by members.
The suspect left and threatened that he would return and burn the church.
Police arrested the suspect in a follow-up operation in Barangay Sadsaran here.
Damage to property was estimated at P50,000.
