Globe Telecom Inc. is ramping up its efforts to make reliable, high-speed internet accessible to more households by focusing on the expansion of its fiber and 5G technologies.
Globe Telecom boosts fiber, 5G to reach more Filipino households
In a statement, Globe President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Carlos Cruz said the telecommunications giant is striving to deliver affordable, flexible, and high-quality connectivity to communities across the country.
“Connectivity is an enabler of progress,” said Cruz, noting that Globe is working towards achieving inclusive digital access.
“By expanding our network infrastructure, we are unlocking access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for millions of Filipinos,” he added.
Globe said its GFiber Prepaid (GFP) service is designed for households that prefer services without contracts or big upfront payments.
The company said the GFP is accessible through a plug-and-play setup, with reloadable options and management through the GlobeOne app. This accessibility pushes users to reload every three to four weeks.
The service has earned a net promoter score (NPS) of 67, notably above the industry average of 31, signaling the customers’ positive experience in the speed of connectivity and the overall prepaid fiber experience.
Globe is also expanding reload options through AMAX and ECPay as additional options for customers.
In addition to fiber connectivity, Globe is also pushing its 5G Wi-Fi through Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), which allows for reliable internet access in areas where fiber is not practical, such as in underserved communities.
Through this service, traffic is being offloaded from Globe’s mobile network, further improving overall service quality.
This year, the telco firm has outlined the need to expand access, deepen engagement, and enhance customer experience for both new and long-time users.
Specifically, Globe is set to bring fiber connectivity to 100 more geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs), bringing the number of cell sites in GIDAs to 700.
“By prioritizing customer-first innovations and focusing on both fiber and 5G technologies, Globe is committed to providing better connectivity for more Filipino families,” it said.
