An alleged member of the “Akyat-Bahay” gang in Antipolo City was arrested after breaking into a house and stealing belongings from the homeowner who was sleeping.

Based on the investigation, the suspect, whose identity was not disclosed, entered a house in Barangay Mambugan through an unlocked door on Tuesday morning, May 20. He reportedly took the sleeping victim’s mobile phone and wallet.
Just as the suspect was leaving, the victim woke up and found his things gone, prompting him to chase the man.
However, the suspect refused to surrender and instead fired a homemade firearm (paltik), hitting a tricycle parked outside the house.
The victim immediately sought help from police officers patrolling the area, which led to the suspect’s arrest and the recovery of the firearm used.
Authorities are also hunting down the suspect’s cohorts, who they said have already been identified.
The suspect is now under police custody.
