BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested a 23-year-old robbery suspect through a closed-circuit television footage within one hour after the crime in Purok 1, Barangay Santiago, Iligan City, police reported Tuesday, May 20.
Police Regional Office-10 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jaysen C. de Guzman said the incident occurred in Purok 12, Barangay Tibanga, Iligan City on Thursday, May 15.
A businesswoman reported to the police that the suspect forcibly entered her home through a window ventilation and took P79,200 in store earnings.
The suspect fled and but he was recorded by CCTV.
Police launched a manhunt and he was apprehended in an hour.
“Well-coordinated response and the CCTV footage made the swift action in identifying the robbery suspect during hot pursuit operation conducted by the elements of Iligan City Police Office-Station 5 (ICPO-S5),” said Police Regional Office 10-Regional Public Information Office (PRO 10-RPIO) chief Police Major Joann G. Navarro on Tuesday, May 20.
The suspect is under the custody of ICPO-Station 5 for proper disposition. He faces a robbery case.
The suspect was allegedly involved in previous robbery incidents in the area.
De Guzman lauded the swift arrest of the suspect.
Meanwhile, Navarro said 20 drug personalities were arrested in 18 anti-illegal drug operations in Northern Mindanao from May 17 to 18.
Seized from the suspects were 72.65 grams of shabu with an estimated Standard Drug Price P479,020.
