The Valenzuela City government officially launched the Valenzuela City Identification Card (Val-ID) digital portal on Tuesday, May 20, to combat identity fraud and streamline services for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
'Bawal ang pekeng ID': Valenzuela launches Val-ID digital portal to verify senior, PWD IDs
By Hannah Nicol
The new platform allows stores and other establishments to check if a senior or PWD ID is real by scanning and verifying it through the city’s online database.
The portal can be accessed via desktop or mobile at https://valid.valenzuela.gov.ph/.
The Val-ID system works alongside the city’s newly designed official ID cards for seniors and PWDs.
These new cards come with holographic seals and added security features to make them harder to fake.
According to the city government, this move aims to protect not only the benefits of legitimate cardholders but also to prevent establishments from being tricked by fraudulent IDs.
Under Ordinance No. 1231, Series of 2024, if an establishment receives a fake, tampered, or altered ID, they are required to confiscate it and submit it to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) within three business days along with the necessary details.
The city reminded the public that using fake IDs may lead to administrative or criminal charges.
Officials also assured residents that the platform follows the Data Privacy Act, meaning only authorized personnel can access and verify information.
For concerns or questions, residents may contact the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) or the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) at 8352-1000.
This initiative shows Valenzuela City’s continued efforts to modernize its services while ensuring fairness, safety, and convenience for all.
