LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Two drivers were killed and 16 passengers were injured in a collision between a passenger bus and 10-wheel truck loaded with ice on the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Balangibang, Polangui town, Albay province, on Tuesday afternoon, May 20.
Police Lt. Col. Maria Luisa "Malu" Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 5, identified one of the victims as Bobis Liner bus driver Benedict Onrobia, of Barangay Canaway, Malilipot town, Albay.

The truck driver is yet to be identified as of posting time.
Initial investigation said the truck was on its way to this city from Naga City and the bus was bound to Manila from Tabaco City, Albay when the collision occurred.
The left front wheel of the truck allegedly burst and the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed the bus with at least 50 passengers in the opposite direction.
The driver of the truck was thrown away due to the impact of the collision.
Injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
Investigation is ongoing.
