As the local stock market is on an uptrend amid firmer investor sentiment, the Philippine Stock Exchange has upgraded its capital raising target for 2025 to about ₱170 billion from the previous ₱120 billion goal and double the amount raised last year, even without the much-anticipated GCash initial public offering.
“We expect this year to be a very, very high capital racing year. A very successful year for the PSE,” said PSE President and CEO Ramon S. Monzon in his briefing on the bourse’s operation during PSE Star: Investor Day 2025.
He noted that capital raising includes not just IPOs but also follow-on offerings, stock rights offerings, and private placements.
For 2024, Monzon said the listed companies raised a total of ₱82.4 billion pesos and “initially, I was targeting a capital raising of ₱120 billion for 2025 which is about a 50 percent increase of the actual capital raised in 2024.”
“But, today, without including GCash, just going by active capital raising activities that there are already applications for and those few that people would read about in the press or in media right now, you're talking about a target of about ₱170 billion already,” he added.
Monzon reported that, as of May 14, 2025, capital raising activities amounted to ₱42.42 billion from one IPO, one follow-on offering, and five private placements.
“In the pipeline, the PSE, so far, is expecting an additional ₱122.8 1 billion from the IPO of Maynilad Water Services, stock rights offering of ACEN Corporation, and follow-on offerings of Ayala Corporation, Steniel Manufacturing Corporation, and Alliance Global Group Inc.,” he said.
As for the fixed income market, Monzon said a total face amount of ₱73.2 billion in new bond listings was registered on Philippine Dealing & Exchange Corporation which is now controlled by the PSE.
These issuances came from Alsons Consolidated Resources Inc., SM Prime Holdings Inc., DoubleDragon Corporation, Filinvest Development Corporation, Bank of Commerce and the sustainability-linked bonds of Cebu Landmasters Inc.
In the pipeline, Monzon said they are looking forward to the listing of the ₱5 billion Bank of the Philippine Islands’ Supporting Inclusion, Nature and Growth bonds, or BPI SINAG bonds.
