BUTUAN CITY – Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for allegedly raping his stepdaughters aged 16 and 18 in Quezon town, Bukidnon province, police reported Monday, May 19.
The suspect, Rey, was the most wanted person on the regional level in Northern Mindanao.
He was apprehended on Thursday, May 15, on warrants dated Sept. 25, 2024 for qualified rape and violating Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act).
The suspect raped the victims inside their residence on January 2024.
Police Regional Office 10-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Joann G. Navarro said information from residents led to the arrest of the suspect.
No bail was recommended for the rape case but an P80,000 bail was set for the child abuse case.
PRO-10 Director Police Brig. Jaysen C. de Guzman commended operating units involved for the successful operation.
The suspect is under the custody of the Quezon, Bukidnon Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
