FedEx launches AI-powered monitoring service across Asia-Pacific, including Philippines

Logistics giant Federal Express Corp. (FedEx) is launching its latest monitoring and intervention service in the Philippines, providing local businesses greater control and visibility over their deliveries.

In a statement, the company said FedEx Surround is an intelligent solution designed to elevate logistics and supply chain management through near real-time analytics.

FedEx Philippines Managing Director Maribeth Espinosa said launching this service in the country is vital to help local businesses thrive in an increasingly complex market.

"With the launch of FedEx Surround, we are providing Filipino businesses with greater visibility and control over their shipments,” she said.

Espinosa said it will ensure faster and more reliable deliveries “regardless of global supply chain challenges.”

With three levels of service for customers to choose from—Select, Preferred, and Premium—FedEx Surround is set to enhance the company’s existing suite of shipping and tracking solutions.

FedEx stated that the new service is crucial for companies in healthcare, aerospace, and other advanced industries that rely on timely delivery for sensitive shipments.

Under FedEx Surround, customers can see relevant analytics with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and SenseAware ID.

Through AI and machine learning technologies, FedEx will be able to predict potential disruptions in the delivery process, allowing customers to make informed decisions quickly.

Meanwhile, SenseAware ID uses a lightweight, compact sensor that transmits precise package location data every two seconds via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which provides an unprecedented amount of real-time data about the shipment’s location.

FedEx Surround will offer a special handling code that will improve operational capability, enabling prioritized boarding and handling, cold chain support, and in- and out-of-network intervention.

With a 24/7 support system, dedicated teams at hubs, ramps, and stations are ready to assist clients’ needs, including customized reporting.

Aside from the Philippines, FedEx Surround is also available for customers in Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Taiwan. 

FedEx is one of the world's largest express transportation companies, with a presence in over 220 countries and territories.
