The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and state-run Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) on Monday both issued alerts against scammers on instant messaging sites as well as social media.
In a statement, the BSP warned against fraudulent Viber messages using the photo of Deputy Governor Chuchi G. Fonacier to offer fake online jobs promising daily earnings.
The central bank urged the public not to engage with unknown senders or share personal information and to verify messages claiming to be from BSP personnel.
Official job vacancies are only posted on the BSP’s website and verified social media channels, it pointed out.
In a separate statement, PAGCOR warned against fraudulent gaming certifications falsely linked to Lucky 7 Bingo Corp., a legitimate e-games venue operator.
PAGCOR said reports indicate that individuals were lured into signing fake contracts promising ₱50,000 earnings through the “Lucky 7 Bet Lottery Platform” in exchange for a ₱3,000 upfront deposit.
The regulator clarified that the offshore gaming license referenced in these agreements is fake, as all offshore gaming operations have been banned by PAGCOR since Dec. 31, 2024.
It also urged the public to verify licenses only through PAGCOR’s official channels and to remain vigilant against scams.
