Two gunmen assaulted a motor taxi rider in a failed robbery attempt in Barangay 188, Tala, Caloocan City, on Sunday, May 18.

The Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) said the victim, identified as "Emman," was lured into taking a passenger who booked a ride through a motorcycle taxi app.
The incident occurred at around 1 a.m.
A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed that one of the suspects struck the victim's head with a firearm.
The passenger then attempted to flee with the victim’s keyless motorcycle but failed.
Police said the victim quickly pressed the vehicle's off button, preventing it from starting.
The second suspect, who was on the other motorcycle, fled first. The other suspect eventually abandoned victim's motorcycle and rejoin his accomplice.
The victim sought help from local authorities.
Police reported that the only item taken from him was his helmet, which he handed over during the encounter.
Barangay 188 officials coordinated with the police to review the CCTV footage, tracing the suspects' escape route toward Barangay 187.
The suspects have been identified, and a manhunt operation is ongoing.
They will face charges of attempted carnapping, police said.
