No Grade 13 in 2025: DepEd warns public vs viral misinformation

The Department of Education (DepEd) has debunked a viral Facebook post falsely claiming that a Grade 13 will be added to the Senior High School program in School Year 2025–2026.
In an advisory posted on its official Facebook page on Sunday, May 18, the agency clarified there is no truth to the circulating image suggesting an additional year in the K to 12 curriculum.
“Fake news ang kumakalat na Facebook post tungkol sa umano’y dagdag na Grade 13 sa Senior High School para sa SY 2025-2026 (Fake news is spreading on Facebook about the supposed addition of Grade 13 to Senior High School for SY 2025–2026),” it said.
DepEd reminded the public to remain vigilant against misinformation and to verify information only through official channels.
“Muling pinapaalalahanan ng DepEd ang publiko na mag-ingat at maging mapanuri laban sa misinformation (DepEd again reminds the public to be cautious and discerning against misinformation),” the agency added.
The education department urged the public to follow its official social media platforms for verified updates on basic education.
“Para sa opisyal na mga anunsiyo at impormasyon tungkol sa basic education, bisitahin lamang ang official DepEd Philippines social media accounts (For official announcements and information on basic education, visit only the official DepEd Philippines social media accounts),” DepEd stated.
The misleading post, which used an altered DepEd layout and logos, falsely claimed that Grade 13 would be implemented next school year, triggering confusion among students and parents.
