BAUAN, Batangas – A 56-year-old man died while recovering his belongings during a fire in Barangay Cupang, this town, on Saturday morning, May 17.
Police identified the victim as Edison Bautista Magnaye, married.
Magnaye collapsed during the fire and was taken a hospital where was declared dead from a heart attack.
Arson investigators have yet to determine cause of the fire and damage to property.
Warehouse blaze
A fire hit the warehouse of a cable company in Barangay Guinhawa, Tuy, Batangas on Friday.
Batangas Fire Marshal Dennis Molo said the fire started at 10 a.m.
The fire reached the fourth alarm and was declared under control at 11:40 a.m. Saturday.
No one was reported injured or killed but two houses were damaged in the fire.
Damage to property was placed at P340 million.
Cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Shooting incident
A 49-year-old woman was shot dead by an unidentified gunman while cooking in her kitchen in Sitio Gitna, Barangay llayang Nangka, Tayabas, City, Quezon on Saturday morning.
Police said Anna sustained multiple bullet wounds and taken to a hospital in Tayabas where she was declared dead.
The suspect was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and fled on board a motorcycle.
Drowning
A 42-year-old electrician drowned while swimming in the sea of Barangay Papaya, Nasugbu, Batangas on Saturday afternoon, May 17.
Police identified the victim as Sed, married, from Pasong Kawayan 2, General Trias, Cavite.
Investigation said Sed and companions were swimming when his inflatable swimming flotation device was swept away by the waves.
He attempted to retrieve it but drowned. He was rescued and taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
