The bridge will provide enhanced access, safer travel, and improved economic prospects for residents.
The project was built for P5 million under the General Appropriations Act of 2024.
The bridge is 0.090-kilometers long and built with structural steel, wire rope, reinforced concrete, and painted. The base was constructed using Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) to ensure stability even under harsh weather conditions.
The Department of Public Works and Highways-Pangasinan Second District Engineering Office led by District Engineer Edita L. Manuel built the bridge.
Residents here endured lengthy and dangerous river crossings just to reach essential services such as markets, schools, and workplaces before the bridge was built.
Most affected were students who have to pass through town to get to Lipit Elementary School with a distance of four kilometers and spend more than P100 fare for a rented ride.
Others cross their children to school onboard a bamboo raft because of the distance using the alternate route.
The bridge which can be crossed in three to five minutes by walking connects Barangay Lipit Sur to Barangay Pugaro and other barangays.
