BACOLOD CITY – Three laborers were killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a truck in Crossing Cabanyohan, Barangay Tampalon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Saturday night, May 17.

Police Lt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr., Kabankalan police chief, identified the victims as Rico, 26; Robin, 19, and Jomel, 21, all residents of Barangay Tampalon.
Indiape said the victims were reportedly drunk on their way home from a fiesta.
Rico, who was driving the motorcycle, was allegedly speeding downhill, and overshot on the opposite lane, where a truck loaded with sugarcane was traveling uphill.
The victims, who were not wearing helmets, slumped into the pavement and were taken to a hospital, where Rico and Jomel were pronounced dead.
Robin later passed away in the hospital.
Indiape said the 40-year-old truck driver surrendered to the police and will be released from custody after the lapse of the 18-hour reglementary detention.
He added that both parties have reached an initial settlement.
The incident was only reported to the police on Sunday morning, May 18.
