Gov. Manuel "Chaco" Sagarbarria was reelected and his running mate Siaton Mayor Fritz Diaz won.
Sagarbarria became governor following the death of Gov. Carlo Jorge Joan Reyes in May 2023. Reyes succeeded Gov. Roel Degamo who was assassinated in March 2023.
Sagarbarria defeated former Bayawan City Mayor Henry Teves, brother of ousted Negros Oriental third district Rep. Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr., who was linked to the Degamo assassination. Former Rep. Teves denied the charge.

Mayor Diaz, nephew of Degamo’s widow, Pamplona Mayor now third district representative-elect Janice Degamo, defeated two rivals for vice governor.
In a media interview following his proclamation, the vice governor-elect thanked his supporters. “This is God’s will. I am very happy,” he said.
