ATIMONAN, Quezon – A truck driver was killed and four individuals – a driver and three helpers – were injured in a collision among three cargo trucks on the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Balubad, this town, on Friday afternoon, May 16.

Police Major Marnie Abellanida, Atimonan police chief, declined to identify the fatality upon the request of his family.
Injured were driver Rody Quicao and helpers Cheryl Bulay, 37, and Elmer Tantunan, 34, and the fatality's assistant Paulo Ocampo, 23.
Investigation said two trucks, driven by Rene Maratas and Quicao, were on their way to Manila when the fatality lost control of his vehicle bound for Bicol.
His truck encroached on the opposite lane and rammed Maratas and Quicao’s vehicles.
Maratas was unhurt and the two drivers were stuck on the driver’s seat.
They were extracted by rescuers and taken to the hospital where the fatality was declared dead and Quicao and the three helpers recuperating.
